Check which way your aerial should point

Free: type your postcode to see which way your aerial should point.

Still no picture after that? Call 0330 2238 210 and we’ll sort it.

Realign, repair or replace

We test the signal first, so we fix the real cause, then explain what we found in plain English and give you the options.

Realign

A good aerial that has moved, pointed back at the transmitter. Best for: an aerial that has moved

Repair

A new cable or connection where the old one has worn out. Best for: tired cabling and loose connections

Replace

A new aerial when the old one has had its day. We take the old one away. Best for: an aerial that has had its day Call 0330 2238 210 or we can call you for free · No call-out fee, no obligation

No signal on your TV? Check these first

Retune the TV from its settings menu.

Check the aerial cable is pushed firmly into the TV and the wall socket, and isn’t loose, kinked or damaged at the wall.

Lost channels all at once, and so have the neighbours? There may be work on your local transmitter: check Freeview’s website before you book.

Still nothing? Call us and we’ll talk it through. If it needs an engineer, we’ll have it sorted, and the visit and quote are free.

What causes TV signal problems

We see the same few causes again and again: an aerial that has moved, a tired cable, a loose connection, or a TV that needs retuning. We know how to fix each one.

We test before we touch anything, so you never pay for a new aerial when a new cable would do. You only pay for work you approve.

“Signal Hub were able to come out the next day - John quickly identified the problem and explained different options to fix.” Customer review, EN11

After windy weather

Wind can nudge an aerial out of line or loosen it. We realign and secure it; if it has had its day, we fit a new one.

Happy with the quote? The engineer can do the job there and then, and most aerial repairs take about an hour. If the aerial is replaced, we take the old one away.

“I accepted the request at about 17:30 & the aerial man was here at 18:30 as arranged. Aerial now working.” Customer review, TW2

Signal boosters: when they help and when they don’t

A booster can help when the signal is weak, or shared between several TVs.

Often, though, the real fix is the aerial or the cable. We test first and tell you honestly whether you need one.

Communal aerial repairs in blocks of flats

In a block of flats it can be the shared aerial on the roof or the cable to your flat, so we check both.

If the communal system itself needs work, your managing agent may need to give the OK first. We’ll explain what we found so you can pass it on.

“went up to roof on my block of flats to check communal aerial - not great apparently but changed coaxial cable in my flat which sorted it.” Customer review, EC2A

Repair or a new aerial: the free visit decides

The engineer’s visit and quote are free for every job, repairs included, and there’s no call-out fee.

If the aerial is sound and has just moved, or the cable is the problem, a repair is usually enough. If it has had its day, a new aerial is often the better fix. The engineer tests first and tells you honestly.

“I arranged, from a distance, for one of your engineers, Alex, to go to my aged mother to help her with a problem with her television. She could not receive any of the BBC programmes. Alex was extremely helpful and understanding of the situation.” Customer review, GU23

TV aerial repairs FAQs

Arranging it for a parent or relative?

Tell us when you call. We’ll keep you updated by phone, and you can pay by card over the phone.

How much does a TV aerial repair cost?

We don’t put prices online because every home is different, and a guess online tends to change on the day. It depends on the fault and your roof. An experienced engineer comes out free, looks at the job and gives you a fixed quote before any work starts. Say no and you pay nothing.

Why is my TV suddenly saying no signal?

Usually the aerial has moved, a cable or connection has worn, or the TV needs retuning. If a retune doesn’t bring the channels back, an engineer tests the signal, finds the cause and puts it right.

How do I fix no signal on my TV?

Retune the TV first, then check the aerial cable is firmly in at the TV and the wall. If that doesn’t bring the channels back, call us and we’ll talk it through. If it needs an engineer, the visit and quote are free.

Is it my aerial or the transmitter?

If the neighbours have lost channels at the same time, it may be work on your local transmitter: check Freeview’s website. If it’s only your home, it’s more likely the aerial, the cable or the TV, and an engineer can test the signal to find out.

Should I repair or replace my aerial?

If the aerial is sound and has just moved, or the cable is the problem, a repair is usually enough. If it has had its day, a new aerial is often the better fix. The engineer tests first and tells you honestly.

Can an aerial be fixed after windy weather?

Yes. An aerial that has moved is realigned and secured. If it has had its day, a new one is the better fix. The engineer tests first and tells you which.

Will a signal booster help?

It can, when the signal is weak or shared between several TVs. If the real fault is the aerial or the cable, we fix that instead. We test first and tell you whether you need one.

Can you come today?

We aim to come the same day, and we’re open every day from 8am to 9pm. Call us and we’ll tell you when the engineer can be there.

How long does an aerial repair take?

Most aerial repairs take about an hour.

Can every aerial be put right?

Almost always: repaired or replaced, with specialist equipment where it’s needed. If a repair isn’t good value for you, we’ll explain other options such as Freesat, which gives a higher-resolution picture, with its own pros and cons.

Will I be charged a call-out fee?

No. The engineer’s visit and quote are free for every job, repairs included. No charge if you say no, and you only pay for work you approve. Work starts immediately on approval!

Will the engineer need to come back to do the job?

No. Jobs are done in one visit: happy with the quote, the engineer does the work there and then.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes. Every installation comes with our standard 1-year guarantee, and you can buy a longer guarantee on the day of the install.

How can I pay?

You can pay by card, including over the phone, or cash.

Are you insured?

Yes. We carry public liability insurance of up to £2 million.

Do you work for landlords and letting agents?

Yes. We invoice landlords and letting agents directly. Tell us when you book.
