Welcome to SignalHub’s privacy notice. We respect your privacy and look after the personal details you give us. This notice explains what we collect when you visit this website, call or book with us, how we use it, and the rights the law gives you.

1. Who we are

SignalHub is a family-run business with over 20 years’ combined experience in TV mounting and aerial installation. Before SignalHub, we worked for a much bigger company where customers were just job numbers. We started SignalHub to do it properly: turn up when we say, look after your home, and leave you with something that works.

SignalHub is run by Mohammed Marjan as a sole trader, who is the controller responsible for your personal details (“SignalHub”, “we”, “us” or “our” in this notice).

Changes to this notice

We review this notice regularly; the date at the top shows the latest version. Please tell us if your details change while we are working with you.

Children

This website is not meant for children and we do not knowingly collect details about them.

Other websites

This website links to other websites and apps, such as WhatsApp, Google and review sites. We don’t control them and they have their own privacy notices, so please read those when you use them.

2. The details we collect

Personal details means any information from which you can be identified. It doesn’t include anonymous data. We may collect:

• Identity: your name.
• Contact: phone number, email address, postcode and the address of the job.
• Job: the service you need, your answers to our questions, notes and photos you send, and details of the visit and work.
• Transaction: quotes, invoices and payments. Card payments are handled by our card payment provider.
• Communications: your calls, emails and messages with us.
• Technical: device type, country, browser, and your internet (IP) address, which our hosting provider uses to keep the site secure. To suggest an example postcode near you in the booking form, it also estimates your rough area from your connection; that isn’t kept.
• Usage: how you use this website, how you found us and whether you have visited before.
• Transmitter checker: the postcode you type, used once to find its place on the map and not kept. If you use your location instead, it stays on your device. To stop misuse, we count each connection’s checks for the day, as a code, and delete the counts the next day.

We also produce totals, such as the share of visitors who use a page or button. Totals don’t identify you. If we ever combine them with your personal details, we treat the result as personal details under this notice.

We don’t collect special category details (such as health, ethnicity or religion) or details about criminal convictions.

If you don’t give us your details

We need your name, phone number and postcode to arrange a visit. Without them we can’t book or do the job.

3. How we collect them

• From you: when you book on this website, call, email or message us, send photos, or talk to us at your home.
• Automatically: as you use this website, through cookies, browser storage and server logs (see section 5).
• From others: Google, as an analytics and advertising provider, tells us which adverts and searches led to visits, calls and bookings.

4. How we use them

We only use your details when the law allows us to. The table shows what we use them for, and our legal basis.

We don’t sell your details, and we don’t send marketing. We don’t make decisions about you by automated means alone. We only use your details for the purpose we collected them for, or a compatible one; if we need them for something unrelated, we will tell you and explain the legal basis.

5. Website statistics and cookies

We count which pages are visited and how people use them (such as the buttons and form options they tap, and where they stop filling in a form), never anything you type. We use our own statistics and Google Analytics, set up only to count visits for us: Google signals and ad personalisation are off. The law allows this without asking first, as long as you can easily turn it off:

Advertising cookies are only used if you say yes on the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time here. You can also set your browser to refuse cookies, though some parts of the site may then not work.

What we store in your browser

• Needed for the site: security cookies from our hosting provider and a spam check on forms; sh-consent, sh-analytics and sh-staff remember your choices; sh-pc carries a postcode typed into a “Show me” box to our checker page (with where the box sat on the screen, for the move between pages), and is removed as soon as the checker reads it.
• Statistics: _ga and _ga_… (Google Analytics, up to 2 years); sh-visit, sh-attr and sh-ab-… (our own counting, how you arrived and which version of a page you saw).
• Advertising, only if you say yes: _gcl_… (Google Ads, up to 90 days). Visitors from an advert may see a Google forwarding number that rings us.

6. Who we share them with

We share your details only as needed for the purposes above, with:

• service providers who host this website, manage our jobs, quotes and invoices, send our email, look up postcodes, take card payments, and provide analytics and advertising (Google);
• professional advisers such as our accountant, insurer and lawyers;
• HM Revenue & Customs and other authorities, when the law requires it.

We require all of them to keep your details secure and treat them lawfully. Our service providers act only on our instructions and may not use your details for their own purposes.

7. Transfers outside the UK

Some of our providers, including Google, store or handle data outside the UK. When that happens, we make sure your details get similar protection: either the UK has approved that country’s protection as adequate, or we use contracts approved for use in the UK. Contact us for more information.

8. Keeping them safe

We have security measures to stop your details being lost, used or accessed without permission, changed or shared. Only people who need your details for their work can see them, and they must keep them confidential. If there is a data breach, we will tell you and the regulator where the law requires us to.

9. How long we keep them

We keep your details only as long as we need them for the purposes we collected them for, including your job, our guarantee and any legal, tax or accounting requirement. We may keep them longer if there is a complaint or a likely legal claim. To decide, we consider the amount, nature and sensitivity of the details, the risk of harm from misuse, why we hold them, and what the law requires.

Tax law requires us to keep basic customer and transaction records for several years. Our own website statistics are kept in detail for a short time, then only as totals; Google Analytics keeps them for up to 14 months, so we can compare one year with the next. Photos you send with a booking are deleted from our website systems after a short time.

10. Your rights

Under data protection law, you have the right to:

• Access your details: get a copy of what we hold about you.
• Correction: have incomplete or wrong details corrected.
• Erasure: ask us to delete your details where there is no good reason to keep them. Sometimes we must keep them for legal reasons; we will tell you if so.
• Object to our use of your details where we rely on legitimate interests.
• Restriction: ask us to pause using your details, for example while we check they are accurate.
• Transfer: get the details you gave us, in a common machine-readable format, for you or another business.
• Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it. This doesn’t affect what we did before.

No fee usually required

It is free. We may charge a reasonable fee, or refuse, if a request is clearly unfounded, repetitive or excessive.

What we may need from you

We may ask you to confirm your identity, so we never give your details to someone with no right to them.

Time limit to respond

We reply within one month. If a request is complex or you have made several, it may take longer; we will tell you and keep you updated.
